Not That Potter, The Other One

Well, after much-needed help from my mom with the triangle piecing, LC & I had a quilting day yesterday on the Beatrix Potter quilt.
So the quilt for Benjamin (born June 2007) is significantly closer to completion - the entire top is pieced together and the backing, binding and top are pinned together. Now there's just quilting, adding on binding, and the unpleasant tacking down the back of the binding to the backing. Somehow the quilt came out huge (that somehow would probably be b/c we designed the quilt from the center out, and wanted a good-sized piece of the center design, and then the addition of 4 borders would kind of make it get a lot bigger). Not such a bad thing that it's huge, since Benjamin is a growing boy. We had just enough backing fabric to cover it all. The only problem is that we came up short on the binding fabric, due to my losing the original outer border strips (blue) that we cut last...May? June? So, the binding reserve went to making new border strips.
Since this is my first post of the new year - Happy New Year!
