Inspirations

I am sitting here, enjoying being home all week for the first time in 6 weeks!!!! My cuddly friend Zeno is sitting, washing his face beside me & I'm leisurely checking out the summer & spring issues of Knitty. Arietta was one of the spring surprises that I hadn't gotten around to checking back for. It seems to be a very fine example of mosaic knitting, with the multi-colored effect of fair isle without all that picky yarn-carrying. And, with a handy little banner from Knit Picks at the top that says I can knit this sweater for just $37.35. How handy.
Wisp is a lovely mohair scarf. After I made a scarf this winter with mohair/silk for a family friend, it's been in my mind that maybe I need one myself. After working with the mohair/silk, I feel strongly that the economy version - mohair/poly - is not the way to go. That silk just gives such a...well, silkiness to the mohair. It's yummy. And the idea of knitting with mohair right now is just so appealing. The past few weeks of work have just about crippled my right hand past the point of getting much knitting done on the rather thick 90% silk Ella Rae Shibu sweater.

3 Months 'til Wedding Day

Well, today's it's exactly 3 months until K & I get married.
As a happy coincidence, today I stopped at a local store with my Dad & found a wedding dress. I had looked at it a couple of weekends ago, but the store sells prom dresses, has only one dressing room, and it was prom season.
I wasn't looking for a white dress, but this is the first dress I've liked, so it's all set. It's a long sheath, but with 3 separate layers, so it doesn't cling all too much.
And the style makes the most of my nice tanned arms, without showing off the pasty legs. Just need to find some shoes now.
I've been pretty lacking in any crafty content, so here's a shot of green sweater in progress - with the handsome Mr. Z.

One FO

Just a note that the big grey huck lace shawl has been done for a couple of weeks now. Something has made it a little bit difficult to get aroudn to photos...oh yes, it's the 4 weeks of being away during the week running a site exam in Seneca Falls, NY (home of the 1848 women's rights convention and now the Women's Rights National Historical Park), and then catching up on dissertation writing and everything else on the weekends. Maybe with Cupcake on the project this week, a Seneca Falls photo shoot will be in order.
